Introduction

Horse-racing has always been a favourite local pastime (either racing on betting on the outcome of those races). Did you know that a number of Belfast Streets are named after victorious horses?

Ardpatrick Gardens

Ard Patrick won the Coronation Derby in 1902. Owner Mr T Gubbins.

Blenheim Drive

Blenheim won the Derby in 1930. Owner Aga Khan

Cicero Gardens

Cicero won the Derby in 1905. Owner Lord Roseberry

Donovan Parade

Donovan won the Derby in 1899. Owner Duke of Portland

Grand Parade

Grand Parade won the Derby in 1919. Owner Lord Glanely

Ladas Drive

Ladas won the Derby in 1894. Owner Lord Roseberry

Orby Parade

Orby won the Derby in 1907. Owner Richard Croker

Ormonde Gardens

Ormonde won the 2,000 guineas and the Derby in 1886. Owner Duke of Westminster

Pommern Parade

Pommern won the St Leger and 2,000 guineas in 1915. Owner Solomon B. Joel

Trigo Parade

Trigo won the Derby in 1929. Owner Mr William Barnett
