Knockagh Monument

The Knockagh Monument is situated on Knockagh Hill, Greenisland, County Antrim. It’s hilltop location offers spectacular views of Carrickfergus, Belfast Harbour and across Belfast Lough to North Down, Helen’s Bay etc
The monument is a War Memorial erected after WW1 in remembrance of the men from County Antrim who had died in the war. Construction began in 1922 but financial difficulties delayed completion until 1936. After WW2 the monument was dedicated to those who died in the both World Wars.
It is the largest war memorial in Northern Ireland and is a half-size replica of the Wellington Monument in Phoenix Park, Dublin.

With an elevation of 390m (1230 feet) above sea level, the memorial’s prominent location rewards a visit with beautiful countryside and spectacular views. It is a perfect place for quiet reflection on the sacrifices made by so many in the wars.
