What is Belfastentries.com
Belfastentries.com is a hobby website created to explore Belfast and the neighbouring counties by looking at our history, the people, stories and places of interest through a series of short posts. We hope that the information provided is of some interest to those visiting the site and that site visitors will take the opportunity to interact by way of feedback or suggestions for new topics or posts that may be of interest.
In coming months we hope to add more information on local community support & services, places to visit, eat or stay and to highlight local products available from small businesses (eg arts & crafts). As this is a hobby site, www.belfastentries.com has nothing to sell and has no commercial affiliation with any services or businesses listed or adverts displayed. Advertisements shown on the site, provided through Google, are used to cover our costs in researching the articles and hosting the website. in future to cover site costs. All articles represent our own views based on personal experience/ research and are not sponsored by any sdvertiser.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
Feedback and contact forms on the site will collect the details that you choose to enter and email to us for information, action or reply. We will not share this information with any third parties or add anyone to our email subscription list without a specific request to do so. We will remove you from subscription lists on request.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
As Belfast Entries is primarily a hobby website we have no interest in collecting your personal information and do not try to identify visitors. Cookies may be set by the WordPress software used to build the website and by WordPress plugins offering enhanced functionality (see Embedded Plug-Ins and Links). We have no control of 3rd Party cookies and have no access to the information collected. This Embedded plug-ins page lists the plugins used.
As we have no interest in identifying you, please feel free to block cookies if you wish. You can visit this site and any others you visit in an anonymous “guest” or “incognito” browser mode on Google/ Microsoft Edge etc to avoid tracking cookies.
An alternative option is to download a web browser dedicated to your privacy – examples include “Duck Duck Go” and “Brave” with others such as Firefox also offering enhanced cookie protection.
WE HAVE NO INTEREST IN IDENTIFYING YOU AND HOPE THAT YOU ENJOY VISITING OUR WEBSITE AND COMMENTING AS YOU WISH.
We use anonymised analytics from Google on the website to monitor website traffic. The analytics module does not identify website visitors but does look at their interactions on the site to give us a better idea of what posts and stories are of most interest to visitors.
The information obtained will hopefully allow us to improve your enjoyment of the website by focusing on the topics of most interest to most visitors.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Securing your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service to protect the integrity of the website. Outside of the unavoidable use of third party plugins to build the website we have no interest in your personal information and would not sell or disclose information such as email addresses etc to anyone.
Again, this is a hobby site intended to provide “coffee-break” stories that may be of interest.
