Tree at the Giants Ring
Tree at the Giants Ring

What is is a hobby website created to explore Belfast and the neighbouring counties by looking at our history, the people, stories and places of interest through a series of short posts. We hope that the information provided is of some interest to those visiting the site and that site visitors will take the opportunity to interact by way of feedback or suggestions for new topics or posts that may be of interest.

As this is a hobby site, BelfastEntries has nothing to sell and has no commercial affiliation with any services or businesses listed or adverts displayed. Advertisements shown on the site, provided through Google, are used to cover our costs in researching the articles and hosting the website. We have refused Google permission to display personalised adverts as we do not approve of this type of invasive advert.

In coming months we hope to add more local adverts providing information on local goods and services.

As Belfast Entries is primarily a hobby website we have no interest in collecting your personal information and we do not try to identify visitors. Cookies may be set by the WordPress software used to build the website and by WordPress plugins offering enhanced functionality. The vast majority of websites use cookies for the same purposes. The cookie consent facility allows you to refuse cookies although this may impact aspects of the website functionality. The Privacy & Cookies section below identifies the cookies used on the website.

Securing your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service to protect the integrity of the website. Outside of the unavoidable use of third party plugins to build the website we have no interest in your personal information and will not sell or disclose information such as email addresses etc to anyone.

We have included a few suggestions on how to avoid cookies on any site at the foot of the page.

Avoiding Cookies

As we have no interest in identifying you, please feel free to block or deny cookies if you wish. In addition, some browsers and browser add-ons can be used to block cookies . For example browsers like “Duck Duck Go” and “Brave” and others such as Firefox offer enhanced cookie protection. Browser ‘add ons’ for Chrome and Edge will do the same thing.

Again, this is a hobby site intended to provide “coffee-break” stories that may be of interest.
